New Meeting Format for SFPE New England

Bookmark and Share

This year the New England SFPE Chapter is trying a new format for their dinner meetings … they are allowing a handful of manufacturers to showcase their newest technology. The November meeting will be the first in this “marketplace” format and will include Fire Alarm and Notification systems from SimplexGrinnell, Siemens, Notifier, and EST Fire & Security.

Do you like the idea!  I do!  And I’ve heard positive comments from others too.  SFPE seems to be keeping with the standard start times, regular meeting place too …  just a different approach from the conventional non-commercial after-dinner speaker.  Also note that SFPE is only doing this for “some” of their meetings, not all.  Another way to add variety.  I’d like to see one on suppression too.  It’s a win/win for all … the engineers get the latest technology overviews, the product reps have a great audience of specifying influences, SFPE will increase attendance … and local industry distributors and dealers can send their new technicians off for an evening of education very cost effectively … who needs ‘lunch ’n learns’ when you can have a dinner ‘n learn!

From the SFPE invitation … ”  ….  As part of this meeting, each company will showcase their newest and best products as a mini-trade show. After dinner the representatives from each of the companies will provide a short presentation on their latest releases and also provide an insight into the ongoing research/future products. After the presentations there will be time to view the products and ask question of the manufacturers.”
